Les Etoiles dim the Spiders at Aldrich
Dec. 3, 2022
The Spiders lose to the LED Nord as usual...
Following a two-week bye for the holidays, the Spiders returned to the historic confines of Aldrich Saturday night, for the first time since 2016, which was a record-setting night for the Spiders.
Tonight’s game definitely was a record-setter, but not in the way Spider fans would’ve hoped.
The Nord captain #11 D. Alvarez put up a Texas-sized hat trick on the Spiders. While shots were even — and astronomic, as the ref warned they would be — goals were definitely uneven. The box score doesn’t tell the whole story, as the sixth goal for the Nords went uncounted for two minutes on the scoreboard, and permanently on the box score.
The Spider game plan.
So the official final score: 5–4. But it wasn’t close.
For the Spiders, both Harry Long and Kevin Ronneberg notched two goals apiece.
And unfortunately, two of the Nord custom-painted game pucks dinged off Terry Tucker’s bucket, forcing him to head to the IR list with an “upper-body” injury.
The only other notable entry on the scoresheet were a double minor for one of the Scholls, who couldn’t help but inform the ref what he thought of the first call.
And other than the shutout and subsequent lone game puck stolen from the Nords, the franchise record sits well in their favor, now at 1–7–2 for the Spiders.

Next up for the Spiders, the second of three games this week, the first-place Saints.
The Spiders last faced the Saints in the final playoff game last spring, a 3–1 loss, the one and only matchup between these two teams. However, the Saints are a reconstituted team that previously was the Fighting Piranhas, which bounced back and forth from C2 to the C3 over the years. The Spiders last faced that team in the 2013–14 season, with the series dating back to 2006–07 and have gone 3–7.
Puck drop will be 9 p.m. at Parade Thursday night.
