Vikings vs. Packers? Not even close. Head to luxurious Ken Yackel West Side Arena Sunday evening to see the D1 Spiders vs. D1 Chaos in their 2010–11 AHA Winter Season debut.

It’s your first chance to see the revamped D1 Spiders in their sixth season of AHA Winter action. The roster has seen considerable off-season movement, welcoming six new skaters and a new goalkeeper, and the squad hopes to get off to better start than last season’s sputtering 1–5 debut.

But in the Spiders’ way are the usual suspects … the Chaos. Despite yet another split (now fielding D2/D1/C2 squads), the Chaos can always be counted on to be the team to beat, as proven by their unbroken habit of collecting hardware. Lifetime, the Chaos have owned the Spiders 3–0–1 (including last month’s 2010 Fall Tournament tie).

It’s an early start at the Yack. The puck drops at 7:40 p.m. So set your TiVo® for that other game, and see if the Spiders can break the Curse of the Chaos.

And follow the D1 Spiders all season to see if they can make a habit of winning games and return to the AHA post-season for the third consecutive year.
