D1 Spiders’ roster set for 2010–11 season
Oct. 22, 2010
As the 2010–11 season nears, the D1 Spiders have set their roster and put new sweaters on order. As the team welcomes new faces to the roster, the Spiders say their inevitable goodbyes to:
- Superstar netminder Amber Obermoller, who will ply her skills at C2, as well as her myriad WHAM teams. Amber departs holding most of the Spiders’ franchise goaltender records.
- Four-year veterans Michael Armel and Ryan Herman, who joined the team in 2006.
- Second-year players Eric Ackermann and Luke Baker.
- Aaron Bedessem, who was optioned back to D1 as a sub in the middle of last season, will return to C2-only competition. And Spider Original 16 and former team captain, sub Carlos Eberhardt, will retire (again) after his fifth official season (having sat out the 2008–09 campaign).
- Sub Jim Tuttle.
New to the Spiders
Soon to be wearing the red-and-white, the Spiders welcome:
- From the summer Whitesnakes, Eric Grotbeck.
- In a trade for draft picks to be named later, from the D2 Ice Sages:
- And from JMS via Chris Pettengill:
- Jake Cison and
- New Spiders goaltender Travis Fransen.
Welcome to the Spiders!
They join the Spiders in their bid to return to the D1 post-season for the third consecutive year.
