The Spiders took on the Nordeasters at St. Thomas late Sunday night, in attempt to try to string along the two-game winning streak. The Nordeasters had different plans though, dominating everywhere, except in the PIM column, where it was even up. And although two of the Spiders goals came on the power play, a late third power play, with the goalie pulled, led to a rare shorthanded ENG.

Even more rare, in the PIM stats, two elbowing calls in a single AHA game. The last (and only) time that’s happened in a Spider game was April 4, 2009, vs. the Fighting Ice Fish in the playoffs.

So while the PIM totaled 10 apiece, the score ended 6–3, ending the winning streak, and pushing the Spiders back below .500 (their comfort spot).
