Spiders still fail to get LED Nord game puck

Despite Nord short bench, Spiders outnumbered in defensive zone, lose 4–1

With a custom Les Etoiles du Nord game puck on the line, after Bill McCormick singlehandedly shut down the Nord last year but had his puck confiscated, the Spiders gave the Nord every chance to keep their puck, both during and after the game. The Spiders perfected the tape-to-tape turnover™ in the defensive zone, making it easy on the short-benched Nords to maintain possession and tire out the rapidly aging Spiders.

Down only a goal after the first, despite being outshot 16 to 4, the Spiders regrouped in the second and had a respectable frame, outshooting the Nords 13–7, and answering the Nord second goal with a goal of their own, a left point shot by Sutton set up by Grotbeck that appeared to redirect off Grotbeck in front past no. 1 C3 West goalie Michael Scholl.

A late power play didn’t help the Spiders, and the team returned to form in the third period, with the backbreaker coming 5 minutes in, and insurance sealing the deal 2 minutes later, given Scholl wasn’t going to budge, let alone give up any rebounds.

Final score: 4–1. Final shots: 30–24. Final game pucks: 0.

Next up for the Spiders, the Spiders will see if they can shake of the post-Thanksgiving turkey snooze, taking on the 2–2 IceDogs, back at New Hope. Puck drop is 7:15 Sunday night.
