In D2, the Spartans and Royals faced off for the D2 championship on April 9, and it was the Spartans who emerged with the shutout, 4–0, with the Muskies’ Jay Weiner as sub goalie getting the shutout. Both teams, however, received invites to the Las Vegas invitational national tournament in May, in which the Chicago American Eagles ended up shutting down both the Spartans and Royals to win the national title.
