Left wing Bruce Gustafson’s first-period goal, putting the Spiders up 1–0.
The Spiders did something tonight they had yet to do all season — get the lead! Bruce Gustafson’s first-period goal put the Spiders up 1–0, a score that lasted almost all the way through the first period. Despite the final score, the Spiders played a great game, moving the puck well and getting a solid 25 shots on goal! Way to go!.
The Spiders’ three goals:
- In the first period, left wing Bruce Gustafson, from center Doug Thorson and defenseman Jeremy Litton.
- In the second period, again, Bruce Gustafson from center Doug Thorson.
- In the third, a shorthanded goal by left wing Lee Martini, unassisted.
Goalkeeper Jeff Keacher stopped 46 out of 53 shots.
Our resident cooler dweller Paul LaCosse received both Spiders penalties, both for tripping in the second and third period. On both though, he was clearly innocent.
The Spiders’ official photographer Julie Berris got some great shots, which you can see in the Spiders Photo Gallery. Thanks Julie!
In all, a great game — way to go Spiders!
