Spiders D1/C2 squads hold first-ever inter-team scrimmage
Oct. 17, 2008
Both Spider squads took to the ice last night at Breck to prove once and for all that we’re all out of shape after the long summer.
But fun appeared to be had by all (except Bedessem’s pair of board crashes) through the one-and-a-half-hour session, with each team exercising its offensive prowess, lighting up the scoreboard with an 8–7 final in favor of the C2 squad.
It was also a chance for each team get to know its new players, of which there are nine in D1, and three in C2. The Sporting News Star of the Game was the D1 squad’s new netminder, Amber Obermoller, who stuffed blast after blast from C2 captain Dave Schliesman, only allowing a final twine-finder as she took a water break.
