Spiders Continue Winning Ways With WHAM!s

Coming off a runner up finish in the winter league, several Spiders are looking to do one better. Brian Dow, Josh Cagle, and Bruce Gustafson are skating with the WHAM!s in level 3 of the AHA summer league. After a 9-3 regular season the WHAM!s have won two straight playoff games to advance to the championship game against the Pet Shop Boys.

The WHAM!s are comprised of players from well known C2 opponents Blizzard, Warriors, and Renegades. Dow has continued his dominance between the pipes, going 9-3 with a 2.17 GAA and .887 save percentage. “Gus” has found his scoring touch with five goals and five assists and Cagle has a goal and two assists along with contributing to Dow’s superb play in the defensive end.

The Pet Shop Boys are made up of some familiar faces including players from the Rack Attack, who moved up to C1 last season after playing the Spiders in C2 the previous year. The WHAM!s have beaten the PSB twice this year with a 4-1 win in a chippy early-season game and a 3-2 comeback victory before the playoffs.

The title game will be held at 9:45pm on Sunday, August 29th at storied St. Louis Park East. Plenty of good seats are still available.
