Several Spiders To Spend The Summer Rocking Out
May 31, 2010
Just seven weeks after a heartbreaking loss to the Royals in the C2 championship game, several Spiders are back on the horse in the AHA summer league. The summer league is much more laid-back than the winter league as most teams are a mishmash of players and team names are often humorous and poorly pluralized.
This summer is no different as Brian Dow will backstop the Whams with Josh Cagle manning the blue line and Bruce Gustafson pouring in the goals. Players from the Warriors, Blizzard, Muskies, and Renegades round out the roster.
Of course Wham! Is the collaboration between George Michael and Andrew Ridgely that is most known for hits “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go” and “Freedom” (not to be confused with “Freedom ‘90” which George Michael recorded as a solo artist).
Also in level 3 are teams named after similarly insubstantial bands Simple Minds, Styx, Pet Shop Boys, Mister Mister, Men At Work, Menudo (Menudo?!) and the Eurythmics.
The Whams begin the season on Tuesday, June 1st against the Eurythmics. A glance at the Eurythmics roster indicates they are the defending D1 champion Chaos.
