Spiders Win 3-1 over Thunder Chickens
March 1, 2010
The Spiders came out of the gates hard in the first period to set the tone in a 3-1 victory over the Thunder Chickens. The Spiders start the scoring early in the first on a delayed penalty goal by Jay Hilden with assists by Shawn Tromiczak and Aaron “Gee I smell good” Bedessem. That was followed up again by another goal by Mark Bortnem with assists by Bob “hey I made it to a game” Harnett and Gus (he just goes by Gus). The Spiders led 2-0 after the first with a lead in shots 9-4. After the first it seemed the Spiders had the game under control. While at times the Spiders did appear tired and worn, they managed to maintain the tempo of the game. In the third, Captain Dave Schliesman fired home a one timer from the face-off of Jim (No, I never cross checked or slashed that guy bleeding over there) Maietta. This put the Spiders up 3-0 and the victory lap began.
Spiders outshoot the Chickens 26-21. Dow and the defense had a splendid game.
