Spiders and Wild skate to 3-3 tie
Nov. 19, 2017
The Spiders and Wild skated to an intense 3-3 tie in a game highlighted by strong goaltending on both sides.
The Wild took an early lead as A. Olson continued his hot start to the season. Brent Murray answered immediately and Christian Peterson added a goal to give the Spiders a 2-1 lead at the first intermission.
Paul Fitch added a goal early in the second to extend the Spider lead to 3-1. A series of questionable penalties and curious no-calls ensued and the game got choppy and with little flow. The Wild added goals late in the second and early in the third to tie the game.
Both teams had good opportunities as the clock wound down but Brian Dow and Wild netminder Rob Jones were both solid in net. The clock ran out with both teams taking a point from the 3-3 tie.
The tie seemed a fair result between two teams picked as playoff contenders in the B3 East. The Spiders record moves to 2-1-1 with a three-week vacation before facing off against the Northern Horde on December 9th.
