Spiders skid hits three games
Dec. 13, 2015
The Taz Devils took advantage of their scoring chances on Sunday, sending the Spiders to their third consecutive loss.
The first period passed quickly with few whistles and fewer scoring chances for either team. The Taz Devils got on the board first as they took advantage of a 2-on-1 break. The Spiders answered right back as Ryan Wilson cleanly beat the Devils goalie after a slick pass from Jay Hilden.
The Devils jumped out to a 4-1 lead, swarming the front of the net and outnumbering the Spiders to knock home rebounds. Shawn Tromiczak, in a great individual effort, got the Spiders back to 4-2 before the Taz Devils added a goal to make the final 5-2.
The game marked the first appearance for sub goaltender Mike Speakman. Speakman, who stopped 33 shots, will be in net three more times for the Spiders this season with Brian Dow on the IR.
The Spiders will take the ice on Saturday, December 19th against the B3 newcomer Northern Horde as they try to break their three game skid.
