Lakers Dominate Spiders 10-2
Feb. 19, 2014
Missing five of their top six scorers and with only 10 skaters, the Spiders were no match for the division leading Lakers. For the second time in as many meetings the division leading Lakers hit double digits with the final score 10-2.
It actually could have been much worse but Spider netminder Brian Dow was on his game. Dow turned away numerous good scoring chances. But the Lakers passed around and through the Spiders, resulting in dozens of good scoring chances with the Spiders having nothing in response.
Hand-eye coordination apparently runs in the Maietta DNA. Bob scored the first Spider goal as he followed up a save on his iniital shot by batting the puck out of the air into the net. Jim got his goal on a deflection of shot from Tim Stalpes on the point.
The loss drops the Spiders to 7-7-0 on the season, good for 5th place. The Spiders are 1-1/2 game behind the 4th place Leftovers and 2 games behind the 3rd place Ice Hogs. The Spiders will face off against the Ice Hogs on Saturday, February 22nd at 8:10pm in the frosty confines of West Side Arena. Plenty of good seats are still available.
