Dow Eats Up the Piranhas
Nov. 7, 2010
In a defensive battle against the fast-skating Fighting Piranhas, Brian Dow put up one of his finest games in net since joining the Spider franchise. He stopped 38 shots for a shutout and the Spiders first win of the year.
Matt Adelmann scored the Spiders only needed goal on a feed from Brian Armagost. The game was all about defense and goaltending. Assistant Captain Josh Cagle notched one of his best games on the blue line. Spider rookie Matt Adelmann added additional strength, while Harnett and Armagost ensured the Piranhas would have a battle. Assistant Captain Jim Maietta was quoted saying, “This was a big win for the Spiders and this sets the defensive tone for the year.”
Following the game goalie Brian Dow was swarmed with media requests including one fan even asking for his keys. An AP reporter remarked that this game reminded Spider fans of the Dow the Spiders used to face when he subbed against them. The Spider management was smart in not only signing Dow as a free agent years ago, but since have locked him up long-term to continue his stingy goaltending.
