Spiders celebrate Family Night with an 8-1 victory over the Renegades

The crowd came out tonight to see the Spiders on family night. All kids were free with a paid adult admission. The Spiders player relations had an abundance of requests for tickets this evening. The Spiders put on quite a show for their fans tonight.

While shots on goal were 31-29 for the Spiders, the scoring opportunities were not even close. The Spiders notched 3 goals in the first, 3 in the second, and 2 more goals in the third, before finally giving up a goal and ruining the shut out for Brian Dow.

Goalie Brian Dow nearly stood on his head tonight with his best performance of the season. It was quite amazing watching him shut down the Renegades.

The Spiders scoring was spread out this way. Brad Butalla and Greg Lindsley each scored 2 goals, Chris Stalpes had a goal and 2 assists, Captain Dave Schliesman had a goal and two assists, Lee Martini had a goal and an assist and Mark Bortnem got on the board with his first goal in a Spider uniform.

The Spiders stars of the game breakdown this way:

• The number 3 stars are the tag team duo of the Stalpes brothers (aka The Wall).
• Number 2 star goes to Greg Lindsley, in one of his best performances as a Spider, notching 2 goals.
• And the number 1 star goes to the net minder Brian Dow.

Attendance 41, including Spider Jim Maietta observing from the players box with an undisclosed “upper body” injury.
