Playoff format announced

The AHA mid-season captains meeting was held last Wednesday. In addition to the usual blah, blah, blah about jerseys, rosters, sumer hockey, etc., the league announced the playoff format and dates.

In the B3 division, the top 4 teams from each division advance to the playoffs. The playoffs will be held April 7-12 with each team playing 3 pool games Tuesday through Saturday. As in previous years, this includes games starting in the early afternoon on Friday. The majority of Friday and Saturday games, as well as championship Sunday, will be played at Bloomington Ice Gardens.

And most importantly, Summit will again be sponsoring the tournament. Free beer for playoff teams!!!

The Spiders currently sit in 5th place in the B3 East, winning a tiebreaker over the Loons on penalty minutes. The Wild hold the last playoff spot by 1/2 game over the Spiders. The Taz Devils sit in 3rd, 2 1/2 games ahead of the Wild.
