Aaron Bedessem named assistant captain

Aaron Bedessem has been named an assistant captain, announced the AHA B3 Spiders on Friday morning. With captain emeritus Dave Schiesman is on IR for the 2014-15 season, the Spiders felt a need to name an additional captain to help current captain Josh Cagle and assistants Jim Maietta and Brian Dow.

While Aaron is only now being officially recognized as a captain, he’s been a team leader from day one. Since joining the now-B3 squad full time in 2009 Bedessem has contributed 123 points, including 42 goals.

This is Bedessem’s second stint as a team captain after serving as an assistant for the D1 Spiders during the 2008-09 season. That squad went 16-1-2-1 in the regular season on the way to the first tier championship in franchise history.

The Spiders currently sit at 1-1 on the season with a showdown with the 2-0 Minnesota Loons on Sunday night at West Side arena.
