Spiders Sink Lakers in Home Opener at “The Biff”
Oct. 27, 2007
The C-2 Spiders open their season with a win over the Lakers 6–2 at the Biff Adams arena in St. Paul to a capacity crowd. The Spiders shook off the cobwebs of the off-season and came to life in the 3rd period to seal the deal with 3 unanswered goals. Scoring started in the first period by Lakers, soon followed by big Jim Green of the Spiders. The Lakers fought back on a power play goal at the end of the first to go ahead 2–1. The second period scoring started with a twisted wrister from Bruce Gustafson from the high slot. Jim “I brought the pucks” Maietta followed shortly after with the go ahead goal. The Spiders 3rd period scoring belonged to the defense with Cagle adding one, and Tromiczak good for 2 more. Spiders were outshot 39 to 26. Number one star of the game goes to goalie Chad Sande for stopping 37 of 39 shots.
