Royals complete season sweep of reeling Spiders
March 20, 2013
A two-game lead in the division? Consecutive 6-2 wins over tough Sled Dog and Thunder Chicken squads? Hanging 10 on the Rack Attack? All of this seems like it was years ago at this point.
Just days after business elsewhere in the division clinched the Spiders playoff spot, the Royals handed them a 5-1 beating to deepen a late season tailspin. Aside from a stretch in the third period where they seemed content to just move the puck and run the clock, the Royals completely dominated the game.
Rather than detailing all the things that went wrong (everything), let’s just say the Spiders need to pull it together before the playoffs.
The loss brings the Spiders to 0-3 on the season and 0-6-1 lifetime against the Royals. On the bright side, the Spiders are still in first place by ½ game over the Sled Dogs and 1 game in front of the Royals and Thunder Chickens.
With games remaining against the Warriors and Thunder Chickens, the Spiders still have some time to right the ship.
