Eagles soar over Spiders
March 1, 2008
In a tough match that meant so much, the Spiders fall to the eagles 4-1. With playoff implications on the line, the Spiders just could not put enough of their shots in the goal.
In a slightly strange game starting with two last-minute Spider cancellations, followed by a missing timekeeper, it seems the refs had a hard time finding their whistles through out the night. Whether a whistle was for off sides, iceing or the “Name Calling” penalty, which Jim Maietta received late in the game, the refs rarely used the whistle.
The Spiders’ lone goal came from Brad Butalla on a Jim Green setup.
Chad Sande played very well in net and Big Jack Delsing wore the sheriff badge, as the enforcer. Stangely, following the Maietta penalty for Name Calling, Jim was sent to the showers early. Furthermore, The Enforcer Delsing made sure Maietta made it safe back to his car. It seems some of the Eagles wanted to see if Jim wanted to talk after the game. I think they wanted to buy him a beer. He replied, “only if my good buddy Delsing can come along.”
