Spider Playoff Schedule Released

Although the Spiders finished the season on a high note on Saturday with a win over the Sled Dogs (details to come), a Fighting Piranha win over the Warriors relegated the Spiders to 2nd place in the C2 West division.

This places the Spiders in Pool B for the playoffs. Two of the pool opponents are known in the North division champion Thunder Chickens (15-4-1) and North division 4th place Bulls. The third team on the division will be finalized as early as today and is likely to be the Royals (currently 12-5-2).

The Spiders have history with each of these teams. The Thunder Chickens and Spiders last met in the 2008-09 playoffs with the Chickens taking an upset 5-3 win. The Spiders have a 4-1 lifetime record against the Chickens.

The Bulls and Spiders played in the C2 East in 2008-09 with the Spiders taking easy 6-0 and 6-1 victories. The Bulls got the last laugh though as they made a Cinderella run through the playoffs and won the C2 championship.

The Spiders and Royals have met only twice, both in the 2009-10 playoffs. The Royals won a 3-2 decision in the pool play and 4-0 in a rematch in the championship game.
