AHA Holds Captains Meeting In Preparation For Winter Season

The AHA winter season captains meeting was held Thursday night at Breck Arena. On the agenda were the standard issues of jerseys, registration, playoff format, referees, and scorekeepers. Of course the players mostly cared about the last two items on the agenda — division assignments and schedule.
The Division Maker 3000 software apparently decided the Spiders needed a challenge after last season’s runner-up finish. And what a big, big (HUGE) challenge it is. The Spiders were assigned to the West division; easily the toughest with six of the eight teams qualifying for the C2 playoffs last year — Spiders, Jets, Muskies, Roadrunners, Sled Dogs, and Warriors. The other two teams are no pushovers either as the Fighting Piranhas bridge the gap between their 16-2-1-1 D1 team and their 1-15-2-2 C1 team that was forced up the previous year and the Admirals, who have played Spider killer in the past.
The 2010-11 Spiders will first take the ice against the Roadrunners on Thursday, October 28 at 9:30pm at Breck Arena. The full season schedule is expected early next week.

The top 4 teams in each division will make playoffs. Playoffs will be held April 5-10, 2011, with most of the games held at Bloomington Ice Gardens.
